Getting my creative edge back

I know it's been awhile since my last post, I think I've finally over come my creative "block" and feeling inspired again. There are still a lot of unfinished projects around the house (isn't there always?) but I thought I'd post a few that are finally close to being done.

FROM BOX TO BEDROOM:

The night stand I purchased online at a discount unfinished furniture store for $60 (plus free shipping!) after my cheap particle board one broke. After putting that one on the curb I told myself thats the last piece of particle board that shall ever entire my house again! I contemplated going to Ikea or Target (more particle board) because I knew I could find an inexpensive one that would do the job but I'd been craving a project. I was quite pleased with how it turned out considering the price point!

HALL BATH MAKEOVER:

The hall bath we originally gutted with intentions of replacing the whole vanity unit. After one trip to Home Depot and walking away with sticker shock I decided we had no other option then to put my painting skills to work. The reasonably-priced standard 36'' vanities were too small for the space and the next size up put it too close to the toilet. Since its an older home the vanity is an odd size which meant we had to special order a custom top, however it was still significantly cheaper than replacing the whole unit. The hardest part of the whole project (for me at least, can't say the same for Pete who did all the demo!) was picking out the brown paint. I was fairly disappointed at the selections of browns but ended up going with Ralph Lauren's "Starry Night". The mirror still needs to be hung and the sink connected but a nice coat of paint and some new travertine tile on the floor has freshened up the place tremendously! I'll post more once its finally finished and decorated.
